Raising the pedestal to the existing stature of Jazz in India, Seher is conceptualizing and producing the Jaipur Jazz and Blues Festival in association with UNESCO and Rajasthan Tourism – a dynamic festival that aims to open the world of Jazz and Blues to a wider audience. After a series of successful initiatives of showcasing International World Music Artists in Udaipur, Seher brings its first true Jazz and Blues Festival at the iconic Central Park of Jaipur – a nominated World Heritage city by UNESCO.

Seher, India's premier cultural organization was the one to conceptualize and to start the first ever major scale Jazz Festival in India by the name and style of Delhi Jazz Festival in 2011, which is now a highly successful festival reaching out to thousands of people in the Delhi Jazz Circuit. The Jaipur Jazz and Blues festival would be a three day celebration of world class music from Contemporary, Fusion, Latin and Mainstream Jazz to Electric, Punk and Soul Blues, to name a few, on one International platform, making it a destination festival for music lovers from across the world. With participation from countries including Latin America, Canada, Africa and countries in South Asia like Indonesia, Korea and Japan, the festival would exhibit the art as an international phenomenon.

Jazz & Blues are often referred to as sister genres, with varying theories of their roots originating from the other. Having their magic spread around the world, they have drawn on local, national, and regional musical cultures with their aesthetics adapted to varied environments, giving rise to many distinctive sub genres. This festival will showcase Jazz & Blues artists and bands from different countries including India. Now on our way to establish the Jaipur Jazz and Blues Festival and we have the global support of UNESCO (as preserving Jazz as a music genre is one of UNESCO’s major agendas) and also Govt. of Rajasthan. This is being done as Jazz has its Genesis as the music of the oppressed and expression of slavery in the U.S. and came to be known as the voice of resilience and defiance against the oppressors. Today this genre has far greater relevance with tremendous resonance with the youth of our country.

This festival is supported by several Embassies countries including Germany, Brazil and Canada, as partner countries this year to the festival.

To reach out to a wider audience cutting across sections of society, Seher and UNESCO are organizing this iconic festival at the Central Park, Jaipur which is not only centrally located but enables general public to enjoy public activities. This like all other festivals of Seher will be a free entry festival to democratize culture in the state of Rajasthan.

Being a cross cultural initiative conceptualized and produced by SEHER, ‘The Jaipur Jazz and Blues Festival’ aims to open the window which lets the breeze from the East and the West flow across each other harmoniously.

About Seher:

Seher is India’s premier culture and entertainment organisation. We were the first to start the concept of large public outdoor events in India which became game changer in the music industry of India. In the year 2000, we established the iconic Ananya Dance Festival at Purana Qila followed by Bhakti Utsav and Delhi Jazz Festival in Nehru Park which are now annual features of the Cultural tourism calendar of India. In 2016, Seher was asked by the Govt. of Rajasthan to prepare Udaipur as a model smart city. Recently wrapped up the 5th edition, Seher established the first ever World Music Festival that brings in almost 50,000 footfalls in three days from all across the world and it has truly made Udaipur firmly as the global destination of music in Asia. CNN covered the Udaipur World Music Festival in 2019 in their iconic show Travel Trends that reached 354 million households across 200 nations.
